More ways to stay focused

Previously I wrote this list of tips that have helped me stay focused on my tasks. Now I would like to share more.

Drink Water

Compared to the sweet juice, water is a more sustainable way to get fluids in your body. Dehydration decreases your cognitive skills, and avoiding it will help you stay focused.

Pomodoro method.

The point here is to switch up your heart rate. After 25 minutes (for me it's 27), get up and take a very quick walk. The change of pace will keep you awake, which is vitally important when you are doing work that is less interesting to you.

At the beginning of a long work session, you are often in your best state, which causes you to feel less inclined to follow the routine. That is a serious mistake. You will carry the slight discomfort from sitting too long forward; eventually it builds up, making it increasingly difficult for you to return to an optimal state.

The more discomfort you feel, the more energy you need to spend "repairing" yourselves, and the less energy you can use for actual work. It's better to do small maintenance often.

Listening To White Noise

This is the tool I use: https://mynoise.net/. There are a lot of very high-quality white noises to pick from. There are also a lot of configurations for you to play with.

As far as I know, this website is maintained by one person only, which is a great feat. So thank you, Dr. Stéphane.
